Designing the HVAC for Your New Home
When you are building a house, it is very important to make sure your HVAC equipment is properly sized for the space that you are building in. Building a system that is too big or too small can cause many problems down the line that you won’t want to deal with because you’ll just want to be enjoying your new home. Even the smallest mistakes add up to big money where energy costs are concerned. And these days, let’s face it, no one has even an extra penny to spare that could go to waste. It all adds up and it all matters.
Building a system that is too big for your space could lead to complications such as overpowering heat or cold air. This could result in discomfort for you and your family and guests. It could also result in changes to the air pressure and humidity that are uncomfortable for you. The room needs to be properly dehumidified as the temperature slowly changes and when the temperature changes too fast, this doesn’t happen in the right timing. When your system is too big for your space, more energy is being produced than you need, which leads to waste and that leads to unnecessary expense and loss of capital. So these are all reasons you want to make sure your HVAC equipment is properly sized.
If you build a system that is too small for your space, you have a different set of problems, but you still have problems. The most obvious one is that the system will take an extremely long time to either heat or cool the space. Changes in temperature from day to night and vice versa will be keenly felt as it just doesn’t get warm quick enough, or cool down fast enough. This can also lead to unwanted changes in humidity and dampness, but again, this leads to energy waste. The little system has to work incredibly hard, as if it had to work double time, just to put out the energy that doesn’t even properly heat or cool the house. Again, energy and money are being unnecessarily wasted if you don’t make sure your HVAC equipment is properly sized.
The proper design of a HVAC system involves more than simply picking out the biggest air conditioner available. In order to get the most efficiency it is important that a contractor use all the tools at their disposal in choosing the correct size of equipment.
